As a parent, it is easy to let anxiety and worry take over. But it is important to stay level-headed and to read carefully. Just today two articles caught my eye. The
first warns that babies less than six-months old should not drink water because of risk of water intoxication. I found that this article explained the problem and risk well and gave parents enough information to make informed decisions. The
other article describes a study that links exposure to lead to poor brain development and to a later higher chance of committing violent crimes. This article gave no information about the levels of exposure involved and what the current risk levels might be. It also gave parents no information on how to determine whether lead exposure might be a risk in their homes. After reading the second article, you are perhaps left more with a sense of dread than a sense of feeling informed.
