Gracious Grocery Stores PDF  | Print |  E-mail

When you need to reward your child's angelic behaviour while grocery shopping, stop by the bakery department and ask for a free cookie.  My husband was at Save on Foods with my howling 2-year old when the undercover security person told him that the bakery gives out one free cookie per kid, and I will bet that all the big grocery chains have similar cookie policies.

Another great grocery store tip:  Thrifty Foods will do your child's 1st birthday cake for free. Thanks for the tip, Emily!  If you have any tips for parents of young children in your community, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

If you love to eat out but you're stuck in the McDonald's-Red Robin-Boston Pizza rut, then you may want to check out the kid-friendly restaurant reviews at The Little Piggy website.  The reviews are about the food, value, service and ambiance of a restaurant, not the kids' menu or if there's a change station in the washroom.  However, knowing which local restaurants may be welcoming to kids is a start!
