For everyone who has ever skipped out on a community meeting because they didn't know what to do with the kids, here is your chance. This one should be of interest to anyone who lives, works or plays in Victoria.
As part of the public consultation for the update of Victoria's Official Community Plan, there will be a big Community Forum this coming weekend at Crystal Gardens. Friday evening (March 26th) will feature mocktail hour followed by a lively panel discussion, and Saturday(27TH) will have rotating presentations on a range of community issues. The Official Community Plan will shape what Victoria looks like over the next 20-years, and this is a fun, engaging way to talk about where you want our community to go.
The best part? Drop the kids off at the free child-minding service while you take in the presentations, discussions and some adult conversation! When you miss the kids again, stop by the child & youth planning station for some fun, interactive activities*. And don't forget to eat the FREE local food ("10 Mile Soup", anyone?), music, Friday night mocktails... More details are below.
* Child-minding: Fri. & Sat.; Planning station: Sat. only

What is an ‘Official Community Plan’?
An "OCP" is a key policy that sets direction for a city’s growth, urban form, transportation, housing, services and infrastructure while considering regional context, local economy, community health, cultural vitality and diversity, the natural environment, and climate change. Other city policies follow and support the OCP.
The City’s OCP was last updated in 1995 and will be revised over the next 12 months to improve performance on a new set of social, economic, and environmental goals.
Please let your friends and neighbours know that their input is needed, and help create the city you want in 2040. Feel free to circulate and post in membership newsletters or list serves.
