I received the following email today, and I hope this can help. There is now a category in the directory called "H1N1 Flu Clinic Updates" where all the flu clinics are listed. If you have a wireless mobile device (like a blackberry,) you can post wait times and updates in the reviews section to help other parents with young children plan their visits. Good luck, everyone.
"I follow your blog and love it. I'm wondering if you would be willing to set up a spot on your blog for parents to give ongoing updates for flu clinic line ups and wait times. Alternatively, do you know any other site that offers this?
"As you probably know, flu clinics seem to be handling the adults quickly, but they have long line ups for the six-and-under crowd, because apparently you need special training to inject children and VIHA doesn't seem to have enough of these people available. I tried to get the shot for my three-year old on Friday and gave up after three hours in line, after an hour drive in backed-up traffic out to Langford.
"As parents are standing in line, they could send out emails to sites like yours to give updates on the length of wait times. I found that the parents were much more accurate than the officials about predicting wait times when I was standing in line on Friday. I would love to get an update before I headed out again, so I can choose a time when the lines are tamer. I would certainly participate and give back feedback myself, once I am in a line. Heck, on Thursday, I walked by the line at UVic to get my own info before venturing out on Friday. What do you think?
